PPA contract talks

The Portland Police Association and the city began their contract negotiations on Friday with a public session in the Portland Building. Before the meeting began there was a public protest:

The Red & Black Cafe held a press conference regarding John Langley’s asking Officer Crooker to leave the cafe. He spoke of the “power difference” between police and people of color and homeless people. He said the cafe maintains “safer spaces” guidelines to allow people to meet there without discrimination. Rose City Copwatch was there to speak in solidarity concerning the rights of people to maintain “police-free zones.” Ari Perez Diaz of the Red and Black also spoke in favor of transformative justice.

baby ducks safe!
